Guided Mountain Bike Routes in Scotland

The Bottle Green Biking Guided Rides Project

In 2012 we gave our selves a new challenge which was to break away from our traditional coaching offerings and try something new. Sometimes people don’t want mountain bike tuition they just want to be shown a great bike trail, safe in the knowledge that if anything happened a guide is on hand to help out. So, we have started to create a guided rides portfolio that hopefully will get bigger and better as the years roll by.

Guided Ride | Cairnsmore of Fleet (2333ft or 711m)

Mountain Bike Guide

If you have ever ridden at Kirroughtree and spotted the massive hill that acts as a back drop to McMoab and wondered whether it can be ridden, the answer is yes! It is a classic big ride up and then a massive downhill, and on a clear day the views are spectacular. You can even spot the Isle of Man. The track is steep and wet in places, with lots of rock features to negotiate. Call us and we will be happy to arrange a guide to ride with you.

Check out this video that was filmed on possibly the worst day I have ever been up there! I hope one day to have a sunny video of Cairnsmore on here.  We also review a Kona bike in this video, by Jst Roll Media.

Guided Ride | Screel Hill (344m)

This hill is located near to the food town of Castle Douglas. This has always been a brilliant track to ride in any weather conditions, whether it be dry and fast or wet and slippy, you always leave with a smile on your face. There are a few ways up this hill. And what we do on it will change, sometimes we will end up sessioning one section a lot, or other times we will just do full runs. There is everything from big rock sections, drops, roots and short bits of fire road.

Have a look at this video of Screel, this was one of those wet slippy days!

Guided Ride | 7stanes

From Glentrool in the West to Glentress in the East

We can offer guided rides around any or all of the 7stanes sites. These tracks have it all, from family friendly riding to extreme routes. We can offer our services on these trails so all you have to think about is riding and having a good time. All of our guides have been riding these trails since they were made and carry everything in their bags from spare clothing, food, first aid and bike tools. They can also fill you in on all the other things happening in the local area to make sure you get the most out of stay. You might well end up in the pub with them after as well!

Durisdeer Double Track

This epic adventure takes place on the rolling hills behind Dumfries and out towards Thornhill. This classic route will bring you back to your old school mountain biking, no purpose made single track on this route! It’s all about big wide tracks with massive views of places like Drumlanrig Castle, which boasts some world class single track of its own. It’s a good 30km route, with a fair amount of climbing, so pack some sandwiches and be prepared for a good day on the bike. Nothing technical on this route, but it does finish on a nice bit of single track. Lucky for us there are some good places to eat and drink in the local town of Thornhill, offering the perfect finish to the day.
